Last week, DBFA President Judy O'Brien met with City Council President Jack Young. The meeting, arranged by Healthy Neighborhoods, focused on creating a partnership between the Council President's Office, the Department of Recreation and Parks, and Healthy Neighborhoods. The vision of the partnership is to have "...well-maintained and programmed parks and recreation centers which will increase home values and make neighborhoods great." Specific ideas included utilizing neighborhood volunteers to develop and manage programs, fee-based programs at the recreation centers, and possible expansion of recreation staff roles.
