DBFA announces top ten precarious intersections
10/14/2011 7:01:00 AM by Claire

Over the summer, DBFA asked downtown families which intersections they felt were the most precarious for pedestrians. You responded, and since that time DBFA’s walkability committee has been working with the Office of the Mayor and the Baltimore City Department of Transportation to improve the top ten intersections identified in the survey (see list below). DOT has sent traffic engineers to each of these intersections and identified problems as well as short-term and long-term solutions.

During the next few months, DOT will be retiming and installing additional walk signals, repainting crosswalks, and adding additional pedestrian signs. When the changes are complete, DBFA will be asking volunteers to help drivers and pedestrians see the changes and also improve behaviors. If you are interested in helping to bring attention to these changes (activities may include holding signs or taking “before” and “after” pictures), please e-mail us at baltimorewalks@dbfam.org.

Thank you for your help in making Baltimore a safer place for pedestrians.
