Baltimore Shakespeare Festival

The Baltimore Shakespeare Festival offers a number of activities for youth and teens, including after-school acting classes, matinee performances just for students in an intimate 224-seat theater, internships for high-school students, and a summer camp that culminates in a student-staged production. Arts in Education Residency programs offer middle- and high-school students the opportunity to explore various subjects, including Elizabethan Theatre & Culture and specific Shakespeare plays.

Bengies Drive-In Theatre

The nearly 90% restored Bengies Drive-In Theatre has been showing movies on its 52- by 120-foot screen since 1956. Set in a nostalgic atmosphere, the drive-in theater offers classic cartoons and double features, including current Hollywood hits. With a twilight opening, visitors will see a quick cartoon, followed by the first feature and then a 20-minute intermission. Visitors will then see old and new previews and another cartoon before the second feature, and on Friday and Saturday nights, the drive-in offers visitors a special triple play. A link on the Bengies website will allow audiences to request films they would like to see screened; all visitors must have a working radio to receive movie audio.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre

Located at the Community College of Baltimore Country in Essex, Cockpit in Court stages lively children’s musicals, comedies and drama, and larger musical productions throughout the summer in its three theaters. Cockpit offers family-friendly prices and parking is free. Open auditions are held yearly.

Gordon Center For Performing Arts

The Gordon Center for Performing Arts puts on an assortment of performances, showcasing music, theater, family programming, dance, lecture, and film. It is home to one of the largest movie screens in the state and its facilities include a 550-seat theater. Because the theater was designed with unobstructed sightlines, every seat in the house is a good seat.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is an 11th-century style dinner and entertainment attraction for all ages. Attached to the Arundel Mills Mall, the Baltimore Castle is just one of only nine Medieval Times dinner locations in North America offering families a royal feast while watching a dressage show featuring Andalusian horses and an action-packed jousting tournament. Be prepared to eat a rustic meal with your hands as people did in the 11th century! Young knights and princesses can also celebrate their birthday and no charge for the guest of honor.

Pumpkin Theatre

Specifically targeting youth, Pumpkin Theatre, located on the campus of the St. Timothy’s School for Girls, stages whimsical productions featuring many favorite fables and fairy tales, such as Dr. Seuss and Jack and the Beanstalk. Children’s programming includes summer musical theater camps for 8- to18-year-olds, a kinder series for pre-kindergarten and first graders, a Pathway Series for grades 1–6, and an after-school performance playhouse for children 8 to 16 years old.

Studio Thirty4

Studio Thirty4, located in the Hampden community of Baltimore, offers classes in hip-hop, break dance, ballet, modern, jazz, tap, video dance, yoga, and pilates.

Our instructors design classes by age-group and ability level for children ages 4 to 14 years that enhance social, cognitive, and physical development. Our professional staff also offers teen and adult master classes and drop-in workshops for a variety of dance genres. Studio Thirty4 hosts guest artists who teach workshops, master classes, and intensives for pre-professional and professional dancers looking to strengthen their technique and improve their creative expression.
