Volunteer Information Session

As a DBFA member, you may be aware of the many activities DBFA conducts--from facilitating playgroups, to hosting popular social events (such as Moms' Night Out), to advocating for family-friendly policies in the city (such as the successful letter writing campaign to preserve public school funding). As you know, DBFA is working towards making Baltimore a more family friendly city. All of the accomplishments thus far are the result of hard working volunteers.

If you've considered volunteering for DBFA and want to expand your social network, it can be as simple as helping to staff a single event or as involved as serving on one of our three committees.

Advocacy Committee - Do you have strong opinions about Baltimore City and all it could be offering to downtown families? DBFA's Advocacy Committee performs a direct role in fulfilling its mission by advocating for programs and structures that facilitate raising healthy and happy kids in our city. For each advocacy project, committee members will assist in the development of position statements, and advocate DBFA's position in a variety of ways, including meetings with government officials, local businesses, and neighborhood associations.

Events Committee - Enjoy planning events? The DBFA Events Committee was established to help promote and enhance the mission of the Downtown Baltimore Family Alliance. The purpose of the Events Committee is to promote community connectedness, increase membership, and promote advocacy issues through events throughout the year.

Membership and Business Development Committee - Can't stop telling other people about DBFA? Join our Membership and Business Development Committee to spread the good word and make your membership even more valuable! Committee members will promote DBFA membership and build relationships with local businesses to grow our funding base.

If you're interested in supporting DBFA's mission and at the same time getting to meet other downtown families, DBFA is holding an information session on March 3rd from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Spoons Coffee Cafe. We'll provide a brief overview of DBFA's mission and explain the different volunteer opportunities available.
